The health physics instrument calibration laboratory was completed in 1996
at the Department of Energy's Savannah River Site in Aiken, South Carolina.
This new lab calibrates over 16,000 radiation survey instruments annually.
One of the primary goals of the new facility was to reduce the cost of calibration
while maintaining the quality of services and products.
Hopewell Designs, Inc. designed and manufactured nine different irradiator systems,
each of which uses radiation fields of known intensity under automated computer control
to calibrate instrumentation.
These irradiator systems, combined with the building's new features and the calibration program,
has made this one of the best instrument calibration laboratories in the United States. |
