Gamma Beam Irradiators
Hopewell Designs, Inc. offers several outstanding standard gamma beam irradiator models. These easy-to-use systems will measurably increase efficiency and accuracy in the laboratory. Each irradiator produces gamma radiation beams of variable intensity for exposing personnel dosimetry and for calibrating radiation detection instruments. They are available with either automated controllers or manual electronic timer controls.
Hopewell Designs, Inc. is constantly working to improve our current irradiators as well as develop new ones. Please contact us if our standard irradiators do not meet your requirements. We can work with you to custom design an irradiator that will answer all your requirements.
The Model G10 can be equipped with one or two Cesium-137 sources mounted on a pneumatically operated rod. The system may be controlled by computer or an electronic controller (PLC). There are six configurations to choose from based on source quantity and size.

Model DS20 Panoramic Irradiator
The Model DS20 Panoramic irradiator provides a 360° radiation field for irradiating personnel dosimetry. A Cesium-137 source is available from 50 mCi to 10 Ci. The system comes complete with radiation sources, shielded enclosure, exposure position, rotating turntable and control panel.

Model GI-AM241 Irradiator
The Am-241 source is shaped as a disc, similar to a coin, to optimize the dose rate for this low energy gamma emitter. The Model GI-Am241gamma beam irradiator holds a single Am-241 source on a source rod that is raised vertically to lift it out of its shield to the exposed position. The shielding consists of lead and plastic shielding for both the gamma and neutron radiation the Am-241 emits. Overall size of the shield is 12” x 13” x 14” and has 3/8” of lead shielding and 5” of high density polyethylene shielding.
The Model GI-AM241 irradiator is typically mounted at the opposite end of the linear positioning system from the GC60 and is controlled by the GC60 computer control system. When selected, the computer control system references exposure distance to the source center.
Model WI-90 Well Irradiator
The Model WI90 Well Irradiator provides a vertical radiation beam for quickly calibrating radiation detection instruments. When high instrument throughput is required, the WI90 gives an easy and quick access to instruments for adjustment, while keeping exposure rates to personnel low. The system comes complete with radiation source, shielded enclosure, source elevator, attenuator, safety interlocks, and control panel.
