| The Model G10 Gamma Beam Irradiator
provides a horizontal radiation beam for calibrating radiation detection instruments and
irradiating personnel dosimetry.
The irradiator system includes the following:
|
Model G10 Gamma Beam Irradiator with optional LPS (X, Y, Z, and R axes) and Instrument Camera
|
- One or two Cesium-137 sources (10 mCi to 2200 Ci)
- Shielded enclosure
- Beam collimator
- Safety Interlocks
- Electronic Control Panel
|
| Optional equipment includes the following:
|
- Attenuators
- Linear Positioning System (LPS)
- Computer control
- Instrument Camera
- Laser Alignment System
|
|
| Radioactive Sources
|
- Doubly encapsulated, hermetically sealed, special form Cesium-137
- Fully surrounded by lead and tungsten in the shielded position
- Tungsten shielding above and below the source limit axial radiation
- Tungsten shielding between sources in dual source systems to minimize cross-talk
- Pneumatic exposure control mechanism
- Stainless steel and tungsten control rod
- Position continuously monitored by sensors on the pneumatic system
- Standard sizes: 10, 50, 100, or 500 mCi; 1, 5, 10, 20, 30, 50, 100, 200, 450, 1200, or 2200 Ci
|
| Shielded Enclosure
|
Computer Control System
|
- Steel encased lead shielding surrounds path to exposed position as well as shielded position
- Beam centerline 1 meter above floor
- Tungsten rectangular collimator confines beam to 30º solid angle
- Exposure rate less than 5 mR/hr at 12" (30 cm) from the shield surface
- Shield size depends on source(s); overall system size 30" (76 cm) wide x 18" (46 cm) deep
x 70" (178 cm) tall; 65" (165 cm) tall for single source systems
|
| Safety System
|
- Safety interlock system prevents exposure unless all safeguards are satisfied
- Status panels show radiation conditions at a glance
- Entire system meets or exceeds ANSI Standards N43.3 and NCRP 88
|
| Control Panel
|
Electronic Control Panel
|
- Controls for Expose, Return, Emergency Off
- Keyed Power Switch
- Electronic Control System includes the following:
- Indicators for Exposure Time and System Status
- Keypad to set Exposure Time and System Parameters
- Up to 900,000 seconds (10.4 days) exposure time
- Computer Control System includes the following:
- Automated control of Linear Positioning System (LPS)
- On-screen indicators for Exposure Time, System Status, LPS Position
- Keyboard and Mouse (optional Touch-screen) inputs
- Exposure Rate Calculator
- Automated Irradiator Calibration
- Database for Exposure history
|
| Ancillary Equipment
|
0 - 8000x Attenuator Set
|
- Linear Positioning System (LPS) with any combination of up to four axes:
- X - parallel to the beam - up to 10 meters (33 feet)
- Y - horizontal perpendicular to the beam
- Z - vertical
- R - rotary
- Collimators for custom beam configuration
- Attenuators:
the standard computer-controlled set of four lead attenuators (x2, x4, x10, x100)
provides 16 different levels of attenuation from None to 8000x
